World Federation of Youth Clubs Announces 2022 Promise Awards Recipients
ORLANDO, FL / ACCESSWIRE / November 1, 2022 / World Federation of Youth Clubs (WFYC) recently announced the 2022 Promise Awards recipients during its second annual celebration.
This year's event, which was shared with a global audience on September 20, 2022, recognized seven recipients and five honorable mentions in three categories: leaders, programs, and youth. Award recipients were selected from over 60 nominations from 38 countries around the world.
This year's award recipients were:
Dimitris Giannakakis of Field of Life, Greece - 2022 Leadership Excellence Award
John Lightfoot of Barton Athletic Club, United Kingdom - 2022 Lifetime Leadership Achievement Award
Rebecca Ampah of Boys & Girls Clubs of Ghana, Ghana - 2022 Leadership Pioneer Award
Star Program of Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico - 2022 Education Program Impact Award
Sustainable Food Program of Clubs de Ninos y Ninas de Centro America, Guatemala and El Salvador - 2022 Health Program Impact Award
Annet of Petros Zoe Initiative, Uganda - 2022 Youth Inspiration Award
Enock of Boys & Girls Clubs of Ghana, Ghana - 2022 Youth Changemaker Award

Launched in 2021, the WFYC Promise Awards were created to raise awareness about the importance of youth development organizations and professionals, to highlight best practices in youth development, and share stories of the creativity, courage, and resiliency of youth around the world. WFYC member organizations nominate the leaders, programs, and youth in their communities who are making an impact for these awards.
This year's recipients received video storytelling production training, a professionally edited video about the recipient and their club, media training, guidance and support to celebrate this news in their local community, a grant to the club supporting their programs and a celebration for recognition as a 2022 Promise Awards recipient!
The 2022 Promise Awards featured Susan Porcaro Goings, WFYC Co-Founder & Board Member, as the host, and guest speakers included WFYC Global Ambassador Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves; Kirk Dominick, WFYC President & CEO; David Evangelista, 2022 Promise Awards Committee Chair, Special Olympics Europe-Eurasia; event sponsor, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP; and other members of the Promise Awards committee, board members, and more.
